A Lettering Text

Author Sydney H. Watson (1911–1981) joined the Ontario College of Art (OCA) in 1946 and became its principal in 1955. This book is the culmination of his many years teaching lettering at OCA. While Watson covers the fundamentals of lettering, he goes beyond the basics to explore related fields such as calligraphy and photo-lettering. In the credits, he acknowledges the contributions of Carl Dair, Frank Davies, Allan Fleming, and others.
