The Boy With an R in His Hand

The story of two orphaned brothers who arrive in York and soon find themselves entangled in the complex politics of Upper Canada. Joel, the elder brother, aligns himself with the Family Compact, while Alex – more imaginative and courageous – takes the opposing path, apprenticing under William Lyon Mackenzie at The Colonial Advocate. As he learns the craft of printing and typesetting, Alex becomes swept up in the infamous type-riot of 1826.
